2021 Election Results by Precinct Vote Column Label Format ------------------------ Columns reporting votes follow a standard label pattern. One example is: G20PRERTRU The first character is G for a general election, C for recount results, P for a primary, S for a special, and R for a runoff. Naval Weapons Station Earle in Monmouth County was added as an unassigned district. All counties except Salem and Warren reported mail votes at the municipal and/or ward level. Hudson, Mercer, and Union also reported provisional votes at the municipal and/or ward level. The remaining counties reported all types of early votes at the municipal and/or ward level. Essex, Hudson, and Monmouth further subdivide these vote types by other districts on the same ballot. All votes were distributed by candidate to precincts based on their share of the precinct-level reported vote of the respective reporting unit. Absentee ballots and provisional votes were reported at the county or city level throughout the state. Amherst, Campbell, Chesapeake, Fairfax County, and Floyd provided a breakout of nearly all votes by precinct. A small number of hand-counted ballots were not assigned to specific precincts. A significant number of precincts throughout the state have been replaced with the U.S. Census Bureau's 2020 Redistricting Data Program final release. Virginia election reports sometimes include precinct splits that are obsolete or unused for the given election cycle. These have been omitted. In cases where voters were assigned to the wrong district the de facto precinct split has been included for that election. The borders of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Petersburg, Prince George, Suffolk, Virginia Beach reflect de facto misalignments that were not corrected before 2021.
